Tecno Camon CM review

Tecno Camon CM is one of the latest additions to the Camon family. This line is known majorly for their great cameras. Does the Camon CM continue this tradition? What are the key features of this device? This article contains a review of the Camon CM.

The first thing that you will notice about the phone is the screen. Techno has opted for a 5.7” display with HD resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels, which, in my opinion, is not that great. However, they offset this disappointing resolution with an 18:9 aspect ratio. This means more screen to body ratio. Movies and games are going to look so good.

The device is slim. 7.75mm to be specific, so no bulging in your pockets. The body, to my disappointment, is made of plastic, which is not surprising considering the cost of the phone. One other thing the device has going for is its lightweight. It has a 13MP front and rear camera with flash.

The screen is made of Corning Gorilla glass, though I highly recommend buying a screen protector to avoid stories that touch.

The volume buttons and power buttons are placed on the right side of the phone. The buttons feel sturdy and solid, although I do not know how long it will remain so.

It sports a fingerprint reader at the rear.

It comes in 3 major colors: Champagne gold, City blue, and midnight black.

Hardware Specifications

Under the hood of the device, which for phone enthusiasts like myself, is the main thing, the phone is quite disappointing.

Last years’ Tecno CX came with a 3200mAh battery, and e thought they would be improvements this year. Alas, the CM comes with an even smaller 3000mAh capacity battery. One might argue that the phone is smaller and won’t consume as much power, but there’s no such thing as too much battery power. Get ready to charge your phone within6-7 hours of usage. What is more, there is no fast charging capability and the device does not use a USB Type C charger, instead of sticking with the kind of outdated micro USB 2.0

Processor and Software

It comes with Android Nougat 7.0 and the Tecno interface HIOS 2.0. It has the MediaTek M76737 chip with a clocking speed of 1.25GHZ.

Perhaps the most disappointing feature of this phone is the 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM, in whichever order you want to see it. Multi-tasking on the device is smooth at first, but its 2GB RAM so after some time it begins to lag.

Tecno made amends for the 16GB  ROM by making way for a microSD slot to increase memory capacity.

Camon CM Price

The device can be purchased at stores for N47000- N52000

  • Sleek and lightweight design
  • 18:9 Aspect ratio
  • Great Camera
  • Affordable
  • 4G enabled

  • Poor battery
  • Plastic design
  • 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM

This device is arguably one of the best budget devices in the market. With a great design and good camera, it is appealing to those on budget. However, if you need your phone to do some heavy lifting and multitasking, you might be better off looking t other devices. What do you think, have you bought the phone yet? What is your verdict?
