When you look at the competition, performing God of War is impressive: Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Spider-Man and Monster Hunter: World. Another surprising title in the Year’s Game shortlist is Celeste, an indie platformed by Matt Thorson and Noel Berry. This game finally won the “Games for Impact” and “Best Independent Game” awards.

Shannon Studstill was not standing still and was awarded the Santa Monica Studios award. She also gave a word of thanks to Sony Worldwide Studios CEO Shuhei Yoshida

The game director Cory Barlog used his moment on stage to give an inspiring message.

“Every game that is present here tonight is a true masterpiece, let’s hear it for all titles,” was Cory’s message. “Let yourself be heard by every creator, creators of games, films, comic strips and all other types of creators who enrich our lives and make us believe magic exists.”

Red Dead Redemption 2 obviously won several awards, including the best story, the best music, the best sound and the best performance for Roger Clark as Arthur Morgan. Fortnite won two awards, including the best multiplayer game and the best game ever. You can view the full list of winners on the official website of the Game Awards.
